클로드 드뷔시는
보로딘과 바그너 같은 작곡가들에게
영향을 받았지만 
자신만의  스타일을 갖고 있었다.
그의 음악을 사람들은 '인상주의'라고 불렀다.

'인상주의' 라는 표현은 
미술 분야에서 사용되는 용어였다.
모네나 드가 같은 화가들...

그들의 작품에서 느낄 수 있는 분위기나 감정을 
드뷔시의 곡에서도 비슷한 느낌을 받은
사람들이 '인상주의'라 했지만,
 드뷔시는 이 용어를
음악분야에서 사용하는 것을 싫어했을 뿐 아니라
어리석은 사람이라며 비난하기도 했다.

드뷔시는 
피아노, 오케스트라, 실내악을 위한 작품과
오페라, 87곡의 가곡도 작곡했다.

파리 음악원에서 공부하던 10대 시절에
많은 가곡을 작곡했는데,
당시 드뷔시가 매료된
마리 블랑슈 바스니에르라고 하는
아마추어 소프라노가 많은 영감을 주었다.

'아름다운 저녁' 이 노래도
그 중 하나이다.

Claude Debussy was influenced 
by composers like Borodin and Wagner
but he developed a style uniquely his own. 
His music came to be known as 
'Impressionism'.

The term 'Impressionism' originally came 
from the world of visual art
—used to describe the works 
of painters like Monet and Degas. 

People who listened to Debussy’s music felt 
a similar atmosphere or emotion to 
what they experienced in those paintings
and so they called 
his style Impressionistic.

However, 
Debussy disliked 
this label being applied to music.
Not only did he reject the term
but he also criticized those 
who used it as foolish.

Debussy composed works 
for piano, orchestra, chamber ensembles, opera 
and 87 art songs.

During his teenage years while studying 
at the Paris Conservatoire he wrote many songs. 

At the time, he was captivated 
by Marie-Blanche Vasnier
an amateur soprano 
who served as a great source 
of inspiration for him.

The song 'Beau Soir' (Beautiful Evening) is 
one of the songs he composed during that period.
