클래식 음악의 역사에서는 원 힌트 원더!
즉, 단 한 곡의 히트곡만을 남긴 작곡가를 많이 볼 수 있다.
유감스럽게도 오늘 소개할 이 작곡가도 그렇다.

가련한 비토리오 몬티!!

나폴리 출신의 이 재능 있는 작곡가는
지휘자, 바이올리니스트, 만돌린 연주자다.

하지만 그는 이 유명한 작품,  
즉 헝가리 음악과 집시 음악에서 영향을 받은
차르다시 한 곡으로만 기억되고 있다. 

뭐...이 곡이라도 있는게 어디냐 싶기는 하다! :)

In the history of classical music,
there are quite a few one-hit wonders
—composers remembered for just a single famous piece.

 

Unfortunately,
the composer we’re introducing today falls into
that category as well.

 

Poor Vittorio Monti!

 

This talented musician from Naples was
a conductor, violinist, and mandolin player.

 

But despite his abilities,
he’s remembered almost exclusively for just one well-known piece
—the fiery, folk-inspired Csárdás, influenced
by Hungarian and Romani music.

 

Well… I suppose having even one famous piece is
better than none! :)
